Bergwijn began his professional career at PSV Eindhoven, where he was trained in the youth academy and made his debut in 2014. He impressed with his speed, technique, and dribbling skills, and became an important player for PSV. In 2020, Bergwijn made the move to the English club Tottenham Hotspur, where he continued his career in the Premier League. On 8 July 2022, Bergwijn returned to the Netherlands, signing a five-year contract with Ajax.

After a impressive season with young-PSV Steven Bergwijn was officially part of the first team and signed a new long-term deal until 2020.

In august 2018, Steven Bergwijn signed a new contract with PSV Eindhoven, solidifying his commitment to the club and furthering his career in the Eredivisie.

Bergwijn made his debut for the Dutch national team on October 13, 2018, as a starter in a 3-0 victory against Germany.

2020
